Connect Eurostat to Codex
Query Eurostat directly from Codex. Arlet links the two through one MCP connection and takes care of API keys.
Connects your AI client to the Eurostat dissemination API.
Tools:
- search_eurostat_datasets: keyword search over the dataset catalogue. Eurostat has no server-side dataset search, so the catalogue is cached in the runtime and filtered here.
- get_eurostat_dimensions: the dimensions and codes a dataset accepts (geo, time, unit and topic-specific axes), so the next query can be filtered correctly.
- get_eurostat_data: observations filtered by dimension codes, returned with codes resolved to their English labels.
The API returns JSON-stat 2.0 (a flat index → value map); this server expands it into rows so the model does not have to decode the index arithmetic. Attribution: data are from Eurostat.
How to connect Eurostat to Codex
- 1
In the Arlet dashboard, open Data tools, find Eurostat and switch it on. No API key setup is needed.
- 2
In your terminal, run codex mcp add arlet --url https://mcp.arlet.dev/mcp/ to add Arlet as an MCP server.
- 3
Codex detects OAuth support and opens your browser. Sign in with Google and click Allow on the consent screen.
- 4
Once connected, both the CLI and the IDE extension can call Arlet tools (the configuration is shared).
If the browser does not open, run codex mcp login arlet to redo the authentication.
