Arlet

Connect SEC EDGAR to Codex

Query SEC EDGAR directly from Codex. Arlet links the two through one MCP connection and takes care of API keys.

This server connects your AI client to the US Securities and Exchange Commission's EDGAR APIs - the authoritative source for disclosures by US-listed companies. It is the American counterpart to the EDINET server.

Key features:

  • resolve_company: turn a ticker symbol (AAPL) or company-name keyword (Apple) into the SEC CIK number that every other tool takes as input.
  • list_filings: list a company's filings with form-type and filing-date filters, returning the accession number and a direct URL to the document.
  • get_financial_concept: pull the reported time series of a single XBRL concept (Revenues, NetIncomeLoss, Assets, ...) with period, unit, fiscal year and source filing, optionally restricted to annual (10-K) or quarterly (10-Q) figures.
  • search_filings_full_text: search the body text of filings from 2001 onward to find which companies discuss a topic, a product or a competitor.

Annual reports on Form 10-K carry segment results, risk factors, and management's discussion - the raw material for competitor and counterparty analysis. Because the XBRL endpoints return machine-readable figures rather than prose, financial comparisons across companies and periods need no parsing.

No API key is needed. The SEC requires every client to identify itself with a contact address and to stay under 10 requests per second; this server handles both automatically.

How to connect SEC EDGAR to Codex

  1. 1

In the Arlet dashboard, open Data tools, find SEC EDGAR and switch it on. No API key setup is needed.

  2. 2

In your terminal, run codex mcp add arlet --url https://mcp.arlet.dev/mcp/ to add Arlet as an MCP server.

  3. 3

Codex detects OAuth support and opens your browser. Sign in with Google and click Allow on the consent screen.

  4. 4

Once connected, both the CLI and the IDE extension can call Arlet tools (the configuration is shared).

If the browser does not open, run codex mcp login arlet to redo the authentication.
